Our mission
Women of Color Empowered enhances the quality of life for women of all races and backgrounds. Our programs empower women to climb the professional ladder, enhance their networking skills, teach others the value of diversity, help build cross-cultural bridges, develop support groups. We want to inspire women to learn from one another and teaches them how to give back to their communities. The programs celebrate the achievements of women in both non-traditional and traditional jobs.
How we started
Created by the Northwest Asian Weekly in 1996, Women of Color Empowered started with a group of women from all races and backgrounds who decided to meet three times a year (in February, May and October) to network and support one another. We decided that there should not be a membership fee — everyone is welcomed — (especially) men! Today, Women of Color Empowered is a non-political group. We aim to provide a space where individuals can share and learn from one another. Lately, as many as 400 people participate in each Women of Color luncheon.
